Rega Turntable Dust Cover Hinge Fix

If you own a Rega turntable that has a dustcover like the one pictured below, there is a good chance that at least one and likely both of your hinges are damaged. That’s because the hinge is crap.

The Rega turntable dust cover isn’t built well.

But before you shell out nearly $100 for a new cover or $20 for new hinges (which will probably just break again) I have an incredibly cheap fix. Zip ties.

Get yourself some skinny, short zip ties — you’ll need 4 of them — then thread the zip ties through the openings in the cover and the hinges. Zip them tight and clip off the excess.

Thread the zip tie through the metal rivets and the holes in the hinge.

As you can see in my photos, I probably should have put the bulky-looking zipper head on the outside of the cover instead of the inside.

You should now have a fully functional dustcover that will likely never break again. Enjoy!
